WE ARE UMEED

Umeed was born with a vision of reaching out to differently-abled children in our society , as well as to their families. “Diffferently-abled” children are often referred to as “disabled,” “handicapped,” “mentally-retarded,” or simply as “special-needs children.” Umeed provides quality intervention for these children while also promoting increased societal awareness of their needs and increased sensitivity toward those needs.

Mr Dilip Rathi and his wife Mrs. Sangeeta Rathi (Director)’s son, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder was the prime motivation behind establishing Umeed. After moving from Delhi to Gurgaon in 2010, she found it very difficult to find the right school which would satisfy the needs of her son. This motivated her to start her own school, Umeed (Learning for Differently Abled Children) which would not only benefit her child but also many other similar children in the locality.

Umeed seeks to work towards a society which  views each person as being of value and importance and to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities as well as their families. Umeed provides quality intervention for these children while also promoting increased societal awareness and sensitivity towards their needs. The school seeks to build a society that cares equally for the needs and growth of each special child by admitting special children from all sections of society regardless of caste, creed, race, religion, economic and gender barriers.

Each day is new challenge for the entire Umeed team where in they also get to learn from their children, which sometimes brings a wide smile on their faces while at other times keeps them at their toes also.

Umeed caters not only to Autistic Disorders but is also open to children with other disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, etc.
